The vehicle registration certificate (PC)Aid and vehicle inspection certificate Aid These documents are the necessary paperwork for any vehicle to be driven on the roads of our country. The vehicle registration certificate is the document that identifies the ownership of any type of vehicle, including special vehicles, both agricultural and those used for construction and services.
If, as a result of a modification, change of service, or data update, the content of your vehicle registration certificate is modified, you must notify the Traffic Department. The modification will be recorded, and a new registration certificate will be issued reflecting these changes. Specifically, you must notify the Traffic Department and request renewal of the registration certificate in the following cases:
- If there is a change in the vehicle's service , for example, going from public service to private or vice versa, or a change to historic vehicle, to camper van, or wanting to use as a private vehicle a vehicle that has been used as a taxi, ambulance, police vehicle...
- If there has been a change in the vehicle's characteristics as a result of a major modification, you must request a change to the information on the vehicle registration document. Major modifications typically involve a change in the data shown on the registration document, resulting in its renewal. If the changed characteristic is not covered by a section on the registration document, for example, a change in vehicle type (multi-purpose, adaptable, etc.), you must request a notation of the change of characteristics not reflected in the registration document . This will record the change, but a new registration document will not be generated.
- If there has been a change in the account holder's details: Due to a change of name, surname, or company name. In the case of companies or legal entities (PJ), please note that:
- If the change in the company name does not imply a change in the CIF, and you have not previously notified us of this change, you will have to do so when applying for the renewal of the vehicle registration certificate, paying the corresponding fee.
- If the change in the company name implies a change in the CIF or is due to a merger, corporate division or non-monetary contribution, instead of requesting a renewal of the documentation, a transfer of the vehicles involved must be carried out .
You will not be able to renew your permit if your vehicle has any restrictions on driving.

Notification of changes and application for renewal of a vehicle's registration certificate must be made by the vehicle owner or any person authorized on their behalf (except if the procedure is carried out by telephone, in which representation is not possible).
To carry out the authorization, You can appoint a representative through our Power of Attorney Registry , selecting the procedure "Duplicate due to change of data, service, important reforms or change from historical to ordinary", which is within the "Vehicles" category .
If your representative is going to carry out the procedure in person, as an alternative to using the register of powers of attorney, they may appear with a DGT authorization form “Granting of representation” signed by the interested party, where they authorize them to make the request, and it is stated that it is free of charge.
Remember that, when requesting the appointment, you must indicate both the ID of the interested party and that of the authorized person who will carry out the procedure on your behalf.
Please note that in-person service is reserved exclusively for individuals. Businesses and legal entities will not be served in our offices, as they must complete their procedures electronically.

En el caso de solicitar una renovación por cambio de servicio o en las características del vehículo, antes de realizar el trámite en Tráfico, deberás acudir a una estación de ITV para realizar una inspección en que revisen y autoricen el cambio realizado, anotando los nuevos datos en la Ficha ITV del vehículo.
2. En el caso de vehículos agrícolas: antes de realizar el trámite en la DGT deberás acudir al Registro Oficial de Maquinaria Agrícola (ROMA) de la Comunidad Autónoma donde esté domiciliado el vehículo y comunicar el cambio al ROMA.
3. El vehículo debe estar dado de alta: Antes de realizar la renovación del permiso de un vehículo, se debe comprobar que el vehículo está en situación de alta administrativa. Si el vehículo estuviera en situación de baja temporal, el titular del vehículo debe darlo de alta antes de realizar la renovación.
La existencia de una reserva de dominio, embargo o una orden de precinto sobre él puede acarrear ciertas limitaciones a la hora de realizar la renovación.

- We will send you the duplicate by mail to the address you provide. You will receive it approximately two weeks after we register your request.
2. If you complete the process in person ,You will need to provide:
- Application on official form , which is also available at the Traffic Headquarters.
- In case of a change in technical data or a change of service (use) , the ITV certificate reflecting the new data must be presented .
- In the case of a change due to a modification in the name or company name , provide proof of the change: original of the ID card / tax identification card of the company in which the modification is already shown.
- If it is a special agricultural vehicle , a document proving that the change has been previously communicated to ROMA.
- Applicant identification: official document proving your identity and address (Spanish National Identity Document, Spanish driving license, residence permit, passport plus Foreigner Identification Number). In the case of minors or incapacitated persons, you will need to provide the details and signature of the father, mother or guardian, their National Identity Document and a document proving their status.
- Pay the corresponding fee

In the case of a significant modification that involves a change in the vehicle's characteristics reflected in the registration certificate, for example, a change in the type of fuel used, number of seats, maximum load weight, etc., we will record the change and generate a new registration certificate which we will send to you.

- In the "Subject of processing" dropdown menu, select "Reports and duplicate documents," and then select the office in your province. If it is not listed, select "Other provinces."
- Don't forget to complete the "Information about the procedure being requested" field with a detailed explanation of your request, indicating that it is a "Request for renewal of the permit due to a change of name or company name of the holder." If you are renewing due to a change in the company name or legal entity that owns the vehicle, and you have not previously notified us of this change, you must indicate that you wish to submit the notification of the change of company name along with the permit renewal request.

- Additionally, if you have not previously notified us of this change, you will need to include la tasa 4.1 de 8,67 € to make this entry.
- If a representative will be submitting the application on your behalf, you must have previously authorized the representation through our Power of Attorney Registry . When submitting the application, your representative will need to include proof of this representation in the application form, in the "Documents to be attached" section.
- Submit your application and keep the receipt.
When submitting your application through the Registry, you must take into account:

Errores más comunes a la hora de realizar una solicitud por registro: Si durante la solicitud de tu trámite a través del formulario de registro de la DGT tiene lugar un error, es posible que la configuración de tu equipo o tu navegador no sea la correcta o que tengas un problema con tu certificado. Puedes revisar nuestro cátalogo con los errores y problemas más comunes con las soluciones y métodos alternativos que puedes aplicar antes de volver a intentar realizar el registro.
Si encontramos algún problema en tu solicitud online, te mandaremos un correo para que la subsanes. Por eso te aconsejamos que revises periódicamente tu buzón de entrada, así como la carpeta de SPAM o de correo no deseado, por si te hubiéramos escrito. En dicho correo te indicaremos cual ha sido el problema y qué documentos debes presentar para corregir o completar la documentación inicialmente aportada.
Para hacerlo deberás acceder al Formulario de Solicitud correspondiente (Renovación por cambio de características del vehículo o Renovación por cambio de nombre o razón social). Te aparecerá un nuevo panel, “Solicitudes realizadas anteriormente” dónde deberás seleccionar en el desplegable qué solicitud, de todas las realizadas anteriormente, quieres subsanar. Una vez seleccionada la solicitud a subsanar, no podrás modificar los datos de la misma, únicamente podrás adjuntar nueva documentación.

- Si se trata de una renovación del permiso de circulación por modificación de los datos que consten en los documentos de identidad de personas físicas, el trámite es gratuito.
- La renovación por cambio de servicio, reforma de importancia o cambio de la razón social de la empresa titular del vehículo tiene asociado el pago de la tasa 4.4 de 20,81 €.
- Además, en el caso de renovación por cambio de la razón social, si no nos has notificado previamente dicho cambio, tendrás que pagar la tasa 4.1 de 8,67 € para hacerlo en el momento de solicitar la renovación del permiso de circulación.
